About

KWASSIE is an art studio built on joy, curiosity, and creative well-being—a place to slow down, connect and create.

KWASSIE’s group classes focus on fine arts techniques – including watercolour, painting on canvas, collage and drawing.

You’ll learn technique and theory from professional artists in a supportive and cozy environment balanced with a good amount of experimentation – designed to help you grow creatively and confidently.

Whether you haven’t painted since you were a kid, or want to freshen up your creative side, the instructors will focus on your individual needs to grow your creative confidence!

The Idea Behind Kwassie

You have probably heard that painting can be like meditation, but at Kwassie it is more than that. At our classes, time stops and you get immersed in the flow of creating your artwork. You will get away from screens and the hustle of daily life for a little bit and leave with an artwork you are proud of.

We believe anyone can paint—even if you’ve never held a brush before. With the right guidance, a little curiosity and a relaxed atmosphere, you’ll be surprised at what you can do.

KWASSIE hosts workshops by many guest instructors, experts in their fields, so there is always a new technique to explore!

What Does Kwassie Mean?

KWASSIE means “little paintbrush” in Afrikaans, inspired by founder Isidora’s childhood in South Africa 🙂 It also sounds like “quasi,” because you don’t need to be a real artist to create, just curious.

The logo’s imperfect K reflects the creative spark we all have.
